“In 2017, Matt, founder of Holistic Progressions, came to our primary / secondary school to design an outdoor classroom / theatre for us in our gardens.
We commissioned him to design a large, airy, iron dome, which would eventually be clad in creeping, flowering plants, creating an enticing shaded area for performance, reading and other learning. Matt's sensitivity to the needs of our pupils and our environment was immediately evident. He understood that we needed an outdoor space that was elegant and natural, one that would weather well, and one that would feel magical to children and young people. He drew up plans and then carried them out with his team of metalworkers, working to a high specification of workmanship. Five years later, the dome-theatre elicits admiration from visitors to the school and even passers-by. It is both strong and very airy, consisting of beautifully ageing iron and a range of lovely flowering creepers. Being under or near the dome is very inspiring: it has become much more than the sum of its parts, providing our children and young adults with lovely daily opportunities to read, perform or just sit and reflect.
