You may wonder why I am so fascinated by domes ...
There are two sets of reasons why I really love them. The first set is more practical: a dome requires the least surface area for amount of volume, so materials are used very efficiently. Less is needed because the weight and forces are distributed evenly. Furthermore there is no separate roof structure, since air-crete is used all they way to the skylight. And finally, they are relatively fast to build.
The second set of reasons has more to do with energy and aesthetics. There are no straight lines in a dome, just flowing shapes that mimic nature & have an appealing quality. There is actually something very special about being inside a dome, it feels like you just stepped into a sacred space, domes have a magical quality. This is a feeling shared by many of the people that have been or lived in the domes I built.

Here is a time-lapse video of a dome home I built in Turkey in 2013. Since then Hajjar has developed tools that allow bricks and forms to easily be made. We are keen to share our knowledge and tools with you in our course so that you can learn how to create your own dome home and have your dream come true.
